I usually do not react by writing to the editor when I read the weekly radical far left missives that are published. However, last week’s newsletter has gone far beyond the boundary of fairness and honesty. It has always been my view that everyone is entitled to their own views but not their own facts. I do not believe in “ad hominem” attacks so I will not dignify the writer by mentioning their name. The letter was entitled “Adolf Hitler, Donald Trump and Trump Suckers.” I would like to repeat what Joseph Welch said to Sen. Joseph McCarthy: “Have you no sense of decency?”
The writer compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler, yimakh shemo (a curse after the name of enemies of the Jewish people). Then the writer compared President Trump’s supporters to Nazis. I have no idea about the background of this individual. His views disgust me and I would like to make a few recommendations.
You should try and read books about the Third Reich, Nazism, concentration camps, the Nuremberg Laws, Kristallnacht, Nuremberg trials and the Holocaust. When you are done, I would suggest you visit any Holocaust Museum and if you visit Israel go to Yad Vashem. When you are done, then perhaps watch some movies about this terrible time in the world’s history.
I could if I wanted to refute each and every one of the writer’s falsehoods but that would take several pages. Suffice it to say, that if you repeat a lie often enough. some people might believe it. It would be nice if the paper published an article about the sad and dangerous state of affairs the world is in.
The Biden/Harris administration has been in power for almost one year and here are the results. Russia poised with 200,00 troops ready to invade the Ukraine, Communist China flying their fighter jets daily over Taiwan in an effort to force them to give up their sovereignty, Iran threatening to destroy Israel with all its inhabitants and publishing maps of where they will attack first, and the embarrassing in the middle of the night withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan.
In the United States, the Southern Border is being overrun on a daily basis by thousands of illegals, smash and grab looting is proliferating in many cities, container ships by the hundreds are stuck off the coast of California for months on end, supermarkets and stores face ever-increasing amount of shelves out of stock, inflation is the highest in 40 years and rapidly spiraling upwards and now Covid is totally out of control with more deaths in 2021 than in 2020.
I am proud to be a fourth-generation American. There were over 70 million individuals who cast their vote in 2020 for President Trump. Were they all suckers? I firmly believe in the First Amendment but hope that in the future before you publish such inflammatory letters filled with unproven accusations and falsehoods, you give your readers an opportunity to publish opposing viewpoints.
