Readers Write: Visit LI site for racial equality

The Island Now

As a 50-year resident of Great Neck whose kids attended our public schools, I appreciated Robert Pelaez’s excellent reporting on the controversy over the district’s racism teachings at the recent school board meeting.

According to the account, the objections raised by some attendees at the meeting centered on a proposed “presentation by ERASE Racism, a Long Island-based group aimed at promoting racial equality”.

I encourage readers interested in this issue to check out the website of this organization (https://www.eraseracismny.org) which I wholeheartedly support.

Its effective advocacy and action make our communities more just, equitable, inclusive, and humane.  Its founder/director, Elaine Gross (no relation) has been honored locally and nationally for this humanitarian work.
