Former N. Hempstead comptroller joins Hanover

Michael Locorriere, the former comptroller of the Town of North Hempstead, has joined the Mineola-based Hanover Community Bank as executive vice president and chief municipal officer, the company announced.

Locorriere has more than 30 years of banking and government experience, with his resume including serving as executive vice president and director of municipal banking at Empire National Bank in Mineola and as senior vice president of municipal banking at Community National Bank in Melville.

He also served in various government positions, including comptroller for the Town of North Hempstead, and being elected to the Suffolk County Legislature representing the northeast communities of Brookhaven Town.

At Hanover, Locorriere will be responsible for all municipal depository activities including developing, maintaining and administering municipal programs. He previously managed a municipal portfolio that consisted of balances over $550 million.

Locorriere has been a member of the New York State Bankers Association Municipal Finance Committee, the Long Island Regional Council, the Government Finance Officers Association, the Suffolk and Nassau associations of school business officials, and the Long Island Village Clerks and Treasurers Association.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, and obtained a Master in Business Administration from Dowling College in Oakdale. Outside of finance, in 2018, Locorriere was named to the board of the Long Island Museum.
