North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth is pleased to announce the recent installation of a Moonlight Garden and fountain at Clark Botanic Garden, a gift from the family of Louisa Clark-Spencer, daughter of Fanny Dwight and Grenville Clark.
The fountain was unveiled at Clark Botanic Garden’s 50th Anniversary Gala, sponsored by the Fanny Dwight Memorial Garden, Inc., the non-profit arm of the CBG. North Hempstead consulted with landscape designer and Farmingdale Professor Michael Veracka in order to prepare and plant the new moonlight flower garden beds.
“I am so grateful to the Clark family for gifting such a lovely fountain and stunning Moonlight Garden to the Town of North Hempstead,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “They are beautiful additions and I know visitors will get much pleasure from both.”
The Moonlight Garden, which is intended for viewing in the evening, was dedicated in the memory of Louisa Clark Spencer. Louisa was the last surviving member of the Clark family to have lived at the Clark House in Albertson.
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Clark Gardens, Linda Opyr, former poet laureate of Nassau County, wrote a special poem that she recited at the Gala.
