Schools from districts in Great Neck, Port Washington, Manhasset, Roslyn and Herricks have been named among the top 100 high schools in New York, according to a new list from US News & World Report.
The list’s highest-placing North Shore school was Manhasset Secondary School at No. 23, followed by Great Neck South High School in Lake Success at No. 26.
Great Neck is the most represented North Shore area on the list, with two of the district’s nine schools scoring spots.
The rankings are determined through categories such as college readiness as exemplified by Advanced Placement exams, math and reading scores on state assessments, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.
Topping the list is Townsend Harris High School, a public magnet high school for the humanities in Flushing, Queens.
