The Nassau County Green Party endorsed party Chair Joseph Naham and Harry R. Burger for Congress and re-elected Naham, party Secretary Jim Brown and Treasurer Allan Hunter to their posts, the party has announced in a news release.

Naham is running against incumbent Kathleen Rice, a Democrat, in the 4th Congressional District. Naham, of Long Beach, previously ran on the Green Party line for Long Beach City Council and for the New York state Assembly. He plans to center his campaign on opposing military and economic war, immigration reform and the Green New Deal, according to the news release.

Burger, the Green Party of Suffolk County’s town representative for the Town of Babylon, was endorsed for 2nd Congressional District. The position is currently held by Peter King, who is retiring. Burger is a mechanical design engineer and runs a small business making custom wax seals. According to the news release, his campaign will focus on the Green New Deal, single-payer health care for all and “prioritizing the needs of real people above the corporations who control the major parties.” This is his first bid for public office.
