The indoor pool at Michael J. Tully Park in North Hempstead reopened on Wednesday, Oct. 14, albeit with a reduced capacity to meet state COVID-19 guidelines, the Town of North Hempstead said in a statement this week.
The New Hyde Park pool will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Membership is required to access the pool facility, and is available to Town of North Hempstead residents only. Town officials are advising residents that saunas at the Tully Park Pool facility will be closed to the public.
High traffic areas will also be cleaned frequently throughout the day. Upon exiting, attendees will not be allowed to reenter, and no guest passes or guest entry will be allowed.
Social distancing guidelines for the pools will be in effect, which will require residents to wear masks when not in the pool, maintain social distancing guidelines, and stay six feet apart while waiting on line in the facility and while on the pool deck.
Facility capacity will be monitored, and hours of operation may be adjusted accordingly to help adhere to social distancing guidelines. Locker rooms and showering facilities will also have a reduced capacity and accommodate social distancing guidelines. The town also encourages visitors to wash their hands frequently.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and for children attending the pool with a caretaker other than a parent or legal guardian, the caretaker and the child’s parent or legal guardian must appear together upon their first pool visit to obtain a caretaker identification card for subsequent visits.
