A man who had been shot and killed was found in Roslyn late Saturday night, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Detectives from the department’s Homicide Squad said that officers “observed a male victim…on the ground in the vicinity of Northern Boulevard and Museum Drive,” within the vicinity, but not the grounds, of the Nassau County Museum of Art, around 11:59 p.m. on Saturday.

Police announced on Tuesday that the victim had been identified as Jarol Hernandez, 17, of Hempstead.

“The victim had suffered from multiple gun-shot wounds and was pronounced deceased by a Nassau County Police Medic at scene,” a statement from detectives said.

The investigation is ongoing, and the victim has not yet been identified. No suspects have  been identified.

Museum Director Charles Riley said in a statement that the grounds were open on time for regular hours on Sunday morning, “after the police conducted their preliminary investigation.”

“The visitors enjoyed their experience in the new exhibition unaffected by the incident,” Riley said. “As we have museum staff and volunteers who live in the immediate area, and we will be opening our doors again to the public on Tuesday, we are looking forward to the crime being solved by the highly capable professionals of the Nassau County Police Department and their colleagues in law enforcement.”

Detectives asked anyone with information about this homicide to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
