Roslyn woman charged with DWI while driving infant

A Roslyn woman was arrested in Great Neck early Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated with an infant in the back seat.

The Nassau County Police Department reports Martha Castro, 32, of Lumber Road in Roslyn, was speeding, swerving and failing to stay in a single lane while driving a 2016 Lexus NX Eastbound on Northern Boulevard and Aster Lane. Castro had a female adult passenger as well as a 17-month old boy in the car at the time.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer said he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on the Castro’s breath and said she had glassy eyes and slurred speech.

The boy was released to his mother, who was also in the car at the time of the incident.

The woman is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years old, under the Leandra Law, endangering the welfare of a child as well as multiple driving violations.
