East Hills trustees have heard an informal presentation about the possibility of building an assisted living facility behind Temple Beth Sholom.
Mayor Michael Koblenz said representatives, including temple Executive Director Donna Bartolomeo and Steven Krieger of Bristal Assisted Living, discussed the idea with the Board of Trustees in June.
Koblenz said there has been no application filed with the village and no board has voted on this issue.
The informal concept proposal was for an assisted living facility similar to those owned by the Bristal across Long Island, including in North Hills, Lake Success and Westbury.
“The concept is the same. The business model is the same,” Koblenz said. “The question is, can it be located there and does it work? We don’t know. There’s a lot of information that needs to be sorted out by them and by us. It hasn’t come to fruition and it hasn’t come to a formal presentation yet.”
Koblenz said his biggest concern is the potential traffic flow to the proposed assisted living home because traffic would have to come from Roslyn Road through the temple’s driveway and around the property next to Northern State Parkway.
“It’s not that I wouldn’t be interested, it’s a question of does it work there,” Koblenz said. “I just don’t know.”
Koblenz said it is too early in the process for any approvals or input from other boards.
Efforts to reach Bartolomeo and Krieger were unavailing.
