The Roslyn village Board of Trustees, in a brief meeting on Tuesday, heard an application for a special use permit by Matt Prince, the owner of Vienna of Roslyn, a restaurant on Railroad Avenue.
Prince wants to enclose the second-floor patio to make more use of the restaurant as a venue for events such as birthday parties, bridal showers and office parties.
He said that enclosing the 628-square-foot space would not change the use of the building. Since the restaurant is situated in the Historic/Scenic Overlay District, he was referred to the Historic District Board, which will have to approve the proposed alterations.
The Historic District Board meets at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Village Hall, and Village Clerk Anita Frangella said the board would discuss the architectural design for the project.
Prince took over the restaurant, formerly Chalet at 1 Railroad Ave., in August and opened the doors with a host of renovations in October, including shifting the menu to focus on small plates with chef Frank Falgiano, formerly of Barrique in Babylon, but keeping the iconic red trim on the exterior.
In other business, the village board approved a March 1 payment of $244,615.63 for principal and interest on the $3.5 million Public Improvement Serial Bond issued in 2016.
