“We will notify you if we are open,” says the website of Lou Joe, a restaurant in Roslyn Heights known for its fusion of Asian cuisines.
Signs on the restaurant’s door suggest the closing is temporary, and its page on Yelp says it will reopen Nov. 30.
Two Asian restaurants previously opened and closed their doors at the location, 255 Willis Ave: Opera House and Tofu.
Lou Joe’s focus on “delicacies from the Guangxi Province of China” inspired its name, which derives from Liuzhou, a city in the Guangxi region.
In a review in January, Newsday gave the restaurant two and a half stars out of four and applauded the restaurant for its expansive tasting menu, which changes depending “on the market’s bounty and Chef Sato’s imagination.”
Efforts to reach Lou Joe’s owners were unavailing.
