The man who was struck by a Long Island Railroad train at the Mineola station on Sunday night has been identified as 59-year-old Richard Weygand of Roslyn, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman said Thursday.

Weygand was struck by a Manhattan-bound Ronkonkoma train around 11:30 p.m. Sunday after he got onto the tracks at the station at Front Street and Mineola Boulevard, according to a Newsday report

He was not authorized to be on the tracks when he was hit, MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said Monday.

The MTA immediately suspended train service in both directions on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay lines following the incident.

Service was restored by Monday morning.
