Roslyn’s The Hilltop Beacon is award-winning newspaper

Roslyn High School’s school newspaper The Hilltop Beacon won multiple awards at Adelphi’s Press Day Quill Awards on Feb. 6. The competition consisted of schools all over Long Island, with close to 30 schools in attendance. Roslyn’s school paper placed in three of the 15 categories, winning two of them. In “Best Sports Story or Column,” Robby Weingarten won first place for his piece “Boys Track and Field Capture County Championship.” In “Best News Article,” Anthony Barisano, Gemma Schneider, Jayna Kurlender, and Dana Guggenheim won for their piece “There Was Never A ‘Bad Education’ At Roslyn.” In “Most Outstanding Newspaper” The Hilltop Beacon won second place. The faculty advisors for the Hilltop Beacon are Kristen Hamilton and Jolene Grgas Segal.
