Manhasset resident Anthony Scaramucci became a national sensation during his 10-day tenure as White House communications director. Could he go back for more?

On Monday, the Daily Beast published a report saying that Scaramucci had privately told friends and associates that he was still in touch with President Donald Trump and other West Wing staff members who wanted him back in the White House.

The report said that Scaramucci said he would fly out to visit Trump this month.

Scaramucci denied the rumors in a tweet later that day.

“Don’t believe fake news,” he wrote. “No standards left in journalism anymore. All anonymous sources. this week’s fake news award.”

In its article, the Daily Beast was quick to point out that a return to the White House seemed unlikely. The report said several sources in the White House said there was no way that Scaramucci would be re-hired after what happened during his 10-day tenure.

In that brief period, Scaramucci made several explosive comments in a New Yorker article about his White House co-workers, Reince Priebus, then the chief of staff, and Steve Bannon, then a senior counselor to the president. Both Bannon, a champion of the so-called alt-right, and Priebus are gone, but the current chief of staff, John F. Kelly, advised Trump to fire Scaramucci and it is unlikely that Kelly would welcome him back.

Scaramucci has said he believes he has a future with Trump. In a November interview with The Associated Press, he said he sees himself working for the president in the future.

“I have very good relationships there still, and you have to remember we were a team for 18 months, and so we all had different roles,” he said. “And so I’m still playing my role frankly. I’m an advocate for the president, media surrogate when I need to be.”
