Elmont names Class of 2019’s top two

Elmont Memorial High School has announced Lauren Munn as valedictorian and Sabah Ahsan as salutatorian for the Class of 2019.

Lauren is highly regarded by faculty and peers for her excellence in academics and citizenship in the community. Her teachers comment on her active participation in class, work ethic, inquisitive mind and thought-provoking questions that enhance the learning environment for all students. Lauren prides herself on working hard no matter the circumstance and considers perseverance a personal strength. She is president of the Science Honor Society, secretary of the World Language Society and a Key Club officer, as well as a member of the Color Guard, district chorus member, Mathletes and National Senior Honor Society, among other activites. Lauren’s 100.64 grade point average, transcript and activity résumé is very impressive, however, her greatest attribute is her kind and humble spirit.

Sabah is an exceptional student with impeccable character. She has taken the most rigorous courses available throughout high school and has proven to be hardworking, conscientious and steadfast in her pursuit of academic excellence. Sabah has earned an impressive 100.40 weighted grade point average and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. She has many interests, such as psychology, science, computers and art, as well as being a member of the badminton team. Sabah is president of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Science Honor Society and Math Honor Society. Having a sincere desire to help others, she volunteers much of her free time as a tutor and collects donations for various charities. She also helped design the new Elmont Memorial High School Spartan logo with a team of her peers.
