Sewanhaka High School announced a new weekly initiative, Sewanhaka Friday Spotlight. On Nov. 15, the spotlight featured the “Inspiration Around Us” art project.

In 2018, teacher Tiffany Kerschman began the “Heroes Among Us” unit with her Drawing & Painting students. The student-artists were paired with local members of law enforcement, veterans, security guards, and active service members, and they then created portraits that represented each individual and their contribution to society. This year, the unit is called “Inspiration Around Us,” focusing on how students have been inspired by the faculty members at Sewanhaka.

The students wrote a paragraph about three different teachers, coaches or staff members who inspire them. Based on their responses, each student was paired up with one of their inspirations to draw a portrait.
