Great Neck high schoolers selected for Long Island String Festival Association

The Island Now

10 Great Neck Public School students have been selected for the 2019–20 Long Island String Festival Association, or LISFA, orchestras, Secondary Division. This division encompasses students in two groupings: grades 9–10 and grades 11–12. The LISFA musical experience brings together Long Island’s highly talented, young string musicians.

The LISFA Secondary Grades 9–10 participants from North High School are cellist Trinity Wu and violinist David Zeng.

The LISFA Secondary Grades 9–10 participants from South High School are violinists Laura An, Drew Kim, Johann Lee, and Jansen Wong; and violists Sebastian Lennox and Dana Siong Sin.

The LISFA Secondary Grades 11–12 participant from North High School is violinist Daniel Zeng.

The LISFA Secondary Grades 11–12 participant from South High is violinist Lucien Gau.

Students were selected for LISFA based on their level and score at the New York State School Music Association Festival held last year. They must also participate in their school orchestra. These students help to inspire all students in the district’s instrumental music program.

LISFA participants are taught by Joseph Rutkowski at North High and by Michael Schwartz at South High.
