The Great Neck Board of Education has approved a resolution to continue to honor partial school tax exemptions for qualified individuals in these groups: senior citizens with limited income; persons with disabilities and limited income; volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers; Gold Star parents; and veterans, including cold war veterans.

These resolutions were approved at the Dec. 16 board meeting and exemptions apply to the 2019 tax year. Applications for all partial tax exemptions are due before the taxable status date of Jan. 2, 2020.

Exemption requirements and qualification guidelines are explained in application forms. Forms are available in person from the Nassau County Department of Assessment, 240 Old Country Road, Mineola, NY 11501. (Open weekdays, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Applications may also be requested by phone at (516) 571-1500, or downloaded from the Nassau County website at https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/3575/Exemption-Forms.
