The Great Neck Public Schools, in partnership with the United Parent-Teacher Council, or UPTC, will host a Community Health and Wellness Fair on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at North High School, 35 Polo Road. This event is open to the entire community, and residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The Community Health and Wellness Fair will feature a keynote speaker, break-out sessions by a variety of health and safety experts, and an exhibitor’s space in the gymnasium.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Warren Seigel, Chairman of Pediatrics and Director of Adolescent Medicine at Coney Island Hospital. Dr. Seigel is also an associate professor of Clinical Pediatrics at SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn.

Dr. Seigel’s presentation, titled, “Ensuring the Health and Welfare of All Children – How Are We Doing in New York?” will provide an overview of the state of children’s health, focusing on federal, state and local initiatives.

Classroom-based presentations will be offered during three break-out sessions, scheduled for 7:15 p.m., 7:50 p.m., and 8:25 p.m. Eighteen presenters will share their expertise in areas such as: mental health, including anxiety and depression for children and adults; medical health, including antibiotics, allergies, and asthma; opioid abuse; parenting and care giving; holistic health; physical fitness; and financial wellness for senior citizens.

Health and wellness information will also be available in the exhibitor’s space in the gymnasium, where more than 20 exhibitors will share information about organizations, products, and services available in the community.
