The H. Frank Carey High School Art Department hosted a logo design contest for its first P.S. I Love You Day, which will be held on Feb. 8 this year.

On Feb. 8, everyone at Carey will be encouraged to wear purple to stand up against bullying, help end depression and ultimately prevent suicide.

The hope is that on this day everyone will walk around the school and see a sea of purple and hear nothing but positive messages that make all students feel special and loved and remind them that they are never alone. Hundreds of logo ideas were submitted and the top four were chosen. The first-place winner’s logo will decorate the front of the T-shirts that will be sold for students and faculty to wear on P.S. I Love You Day.

First-place winner – Sandy Yang, Grade 9

Second-place winner – Allison Capitelli, Grade 10

Third-place winner – Brianna Bonano, Grade 11

Honorable mention – Amelia Zych, Grade 10

T-shirts will be on sale soon for $5 at Carey. All proceeds raised on P.S. I Love You Day will go to keep Challenge Day alive at Carey, a scholarship for deserving senior(s) and a donation to the Long Island Crisis Center.
