A total of 12 Herricks music students shared their talents at the Long Island String Festival Association’s Nassau Chamber Festival, held on Jan. 6 at Hofstra University.

This event was run by Herricks Middle School orchestra teacher Geoffrey Stone, who served as Festival Vice President.

From Herricks High School, students Genesis Kang and Tina Zhao performed outstandingly. Herricks Middle School was represented by participants William Dai, Christopher Frangopoulos, Brian Kim, Ellie Kim, Hailey Ko, Ashley Lam, Jeylin Lee, Kailey Simons, Liam Tan and Katherine Yee.

The musicians spent the day being coached by members of the famous Bryant Park String Quartet, and the event culminated in a public performance showcasing the student ensembles. Attendees earned this opportunity based on audition tapes they submitted as part of the LISFA selection process and rehearsed on their own and with their teachers Catherine Fish and Krista Weis for months to prepare.
