Award-winning Herricks High School writing students Joanna Lau and Carrie Hsu have been recognized again for their extraordinary talents.

Both were highly successful in the Ringling College of Art and Design’s Fourth Annual “Storytellers of Tomorrow” High School Creative Writing Contest.

Joanna, a senior, placed third in the nonfiction category for her piece, “Edges.” Carrie is a junior and received an Honorable Mention for her nonfiction piece, “Black Specks.” Both entries were selected for recognition based on their overall quality — being well-edited, engaging and evocative.

Joanna and Carrie are having a successful year in their writing ventures. Recently, they each received four Gold Key awards as well as other honors in the Scholastic Art and Writing Program.
