Students at John Lewis Childs School donated $400 to the Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warriors on Nov. 27.

The money was raised as part of an American flag fundraiser led by the school’s Student Council, under the direction of advisers Jessica Palermo and Kelly Zullo. The small American flags were sold to families and community members and placed in a field of honor on the school’s grounds from Memorial Day through Flag Day last year. Each flag included a sticker that allowed the purchaser to honor an active member of the military or someone who lost their life for our country.
