Great Neck Community Education is the venue for “Charity Knitting in the Round”—a group of enthusiastic volunteer knitters who carefully and lovingly produce hats and scarves.

This fall, the group made hats that were distributed through the Long Island-based organization Care To Knit, which provides warm items to shelters, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and veterans.

Guided by Desiree Shar, a Great Neck resident and craftsperson, registrants are assisted with patterns and given technical support and advice. “Charity Knitting in the Round” will resume in the spring of 2019.
