Congratulations to Manhasset Secondary School senior Luke Chan, who once again demonstrated his excellent musicianship during a special performance of the New York State School Music Association’s All-State Jazz Ensemble at Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York.

This fall, Luke was among seven Manhasset musicians named to various NYSSMA All-State ensembles who previously performed with 800 other musicians from across the state during the annual NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference in Rochester, New York, on Nov. 29 through Dec. 2. The All-State Jazz Ensemble’s special performance took place March 1 through 3.

“Luke is an extremely gifted musician and an all-around wonderful young man,” said Manhasset Administrator for the Arts Dr. Anthony Ambrogio. “The All-State Jazz Ensemble is an elite ensemble; approximately 20 students from the entire state are selected for this group, and Luke is one of only four trumpets performing in the ensemble. We are all very proud of him.”

New York State Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso and Manhasset Superintendent of Schools Vincent Butera were both present in Albany and each offered their personal congratulations and appreciation to Luke on his performance and NYSSMA selection.
