The Manhasset Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools Vincent Butera recently honored three groups of student representatives from Munsey Park Elementary School who are doing their part to make their school, community and the world a better place for all.

During the board’s Dec. 13 meeting, hosted by Munsey Park, the board and Butera recognized 15 members of the school’s Kindness Club, five officers representing the Munsey Park Student Council and four students who served on a New Parent Welcome panel.

The New Parent Welcome greeters provided an informative presentation for parents of Munsey Park’s newest students at the school’s New Parents Welcome in September. They spoke articulately and confidently about their positive experiences participating in various programs at the school.

Members of the Kindness Club were recognized for their work in school and in the community including making centerpieces for the local firehouse for the Thanksgiving holiday; visiting the Ronald McDonald House after school to bake treats for the families whose children are receiving care at local hospitals and setting up a collection of water bottles throughout the school, recycling over 1,000 bottles.

Munsey Park Student Council officers were also honored for the various community service projects they organize and lead on behalf of the school.

Each Munsey Park student leader received a certificate of excellence for their respective efforts and for setting a positive example for the entire school community.
