At the Board of Education meeting of June 18, the National Council of Jewish Women Lakeville Section presented a $300 check for the Great Neck/Manhasset/Nassau BOCES Parent-Child Home Program, also known as PCHP.

This annual donation was presented by Miriam Chatinover of the NCJW to Board of Education President Barbara Berkowitz. Also at the presentation were Board Vice President Donald Ashkenase, Board Trustees Donna Peirez, Jeffrey Shi and Rebecca Sassouni, and Superintendent Dr. Teresa Prendergast. Representatives from PCHP included Program Coordinator Regina Farinaccio and lead teacher Suzanne Belmont, along with several parent educators and volunteers.

Before the check presentation, PCHP participants Catherine Gant and Alejandra Eche addressed the Board and the audience about the valuable services provided by the PCHP.

PCHP has been in the district for over 40 years and NCJW has supported it since its inception. PCHP, for eligible 16-month- to three-year-olds and their parents/grandparents, is based at the Cumberland Avenue Center. Research shows that early-childhood programs such as PCHP contribute positively to children’s performance in school.
