New Hyde Park Model UN competes at Rutgers

The New Hyde Park Memorial High School Model United Nations team competed at the Rutgers University Model UN conference held in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The conference brought together more than 1,000 students from all over the country to debate some of the globe’s most pressing issues. Led by head delegate Amanda Saji, the New Hyde Park team tackled some of the most important challenges facing humankind. Special congratulations to the following delegates who were recognized for excellence in their committees: Evan Pappas and Sebastian Tews for Distinguished Delegation representing the country of China in the Legal Committee, and Amanda Saji for Best Delegation representing Prussia: Karl August von Hardenberg in The Congress of Vienna.

The New Hyde Park Model United Nations team is led by Ms. Melanie Deegan and Mr. Jonathan Novak. The team has had great success over the years debating at various conferences at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton, Rutgers, Yale and the national championships held in New York City. Its next competition is the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference held at the University of Pennsylvania, Jan. 31-Feb. 3.
