NHP student honored for Hispanic heritage

In honor of Hispanic Cultural Month, Ignacio Gomez from New Hyde Park Memorial High School was awarded with Sen. Anna M. Kaplan’s(D-Great Neck) Hispanic Heritage Award. He was one of 15 high school students in Nassau County to be recognized for his influence and impact on his Hispanic heritage.

Ignacio is an excellent student, a great leader and a distinguished role model to the entire New Hyde Park community. He is involved in numerous extracurricular activities that make him stand out amongst his peers. Currently, Ignacio is president of the Spanish Club as well as a member of the Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team, Shared Decisions Committee, Best Buddies, Students Against Destructive Decisions, World Languages Honor Society, Italian Club, and Red Cross Club.
