North High School Tri-M raises funds for hurricane victims

After being named the 2017 Tri-M Chapter of the Year, Senior Division, North High School’s Tri-M Chapter 2605 has continued its community commitment through its fundraising events.

This school year, Tri-M has so far held three fundraising events to assist victims of the recent disastrous hurricanes. At two bake sales and at their Tri-M Dinner, they raised close to $800.

Tri-M officers play an integral part in all of the music honor society’s activities which, in addition to fundraising, include performing at hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted-living facilities, hosting NYSSMA festivals and presenting before-school Lobby Concerts.

Tri-M’s officers include Co-President Keva Li, Co-President Elana Xu, Co-President Isabel Yang, Vice President for Bass Maintenance Berk Soykan, Vice President for Brass Maintenance Daniel Itzkowitz, Vice President for Cello Maintenance Aral Soykan, Vice President for Chapter of the Year App Amie Adjakple, Vice President for Library System Transfer Christopher Matos Suero, Vice President for Percussion Maintenance Samuel Calto, Vice President for Video Recording System Michael Cohenmehr, Vice President for Viola Maintenance Rachel You, Vice President for Web Scanning Christopher Lu, Vice President for Web Site Jeremy Bernstein, Vice President for 218 Service Adam Tsou, Secretary for Chapter Service Kayla Yousefzadeh, Treasurer Daniel Zeng, and Public Relations Officer Joosung (Joshua) Kim.

Tri-M’s faculty advisor is Joseph Rutkowski, North High’s instrumental music director.
