North High Winter Concert scheduled for Dec. 17

The Island Now

The North High School Winter Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium, 35 Polo Road. The concert is free of charge and the public is welcome to attend.

This exciting evening of music will feature the Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Blazer Beats and varsity a cappella groups, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Orchestra.

The instrumental program, under the direction of Joseph Rutkowski, will feature music from Vienna, including composers such as Franz Schubert, Gustav Mahler, Arnold Schoenberg, Johann Strauss, and Johannes Brahms.

The vocal program, under the direction of Dr. Pamela Levy, will feature music by Joseph Haydn, Samuel Barber, Johannes Brahms, Maurice Lauridsen, and John Rutter, plus popular favorites such as “Put Your Records On” and “Take on Me.”

A combined finale will feature the Symphony Orchestra and Choir performing an excerpt from Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig Van Beethoven.
