On Oct. 16 and 17, North Middle School hosted the Anti-Defamation League’s World Difference Peer Leadership Training Program. More than 25 North Middle students participated in the training to develop their leadership skills and learn how to use the positive power of peer influence to promote respect.
The two-day program started with anti-bias training for peer trainers and faculty coordinators, followed by hands-on training activities designed to enable students to effectively respond to issues they may encounter in school and the community.
Under the direction of ADL training specialists, participants learned how to facilitate activities, start conversations, communicate and reinforce the core pillars of character: honesty, fairness, respect, and citizenship. North Middle’s peer trainers will continue to meet on a regular basis to further develop their leadership and facilitation skills.
North Middle School is recognized by the Anti-Defamation League as a Gold Star No Place for Hate school for their commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting respect. The No Place for Hate program provides a model for combating bullying, racism, and prejudice in schools.
