On Dec. 21, students and teachers of the North Shore School District made an ordinary day into something very special for many hospitalized children. Not only were numerous toys collected from donations by family members and students at all five North Shore Schools, but the high school chamber orchestra performed at Cohen’s Children Medical Center.

The yearly toy drive began over 30 years ago and was first organized by retired math teacher Rob Gerver. Now, the North Shore Key Club sponsors and runs this community event.

“The musicians were amazing and, of course, conductor Jason Domingo did an incredible job leading these talented student performers,” said community service coordinator Julia Salat.
