South High School will present its annual Young Directors’ One-Act Play Festival on four evenings: Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3, and Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and are appropriate for grades 7 and up.
The One-Act Play Festival is a culminating experience for five seniors in the Theatre South program. Each senior will direct a short, one-act play to showcase the skills they developed from several years of working on and off stage, as well as through the school’s Directing Workshop class. Additionally, the festival provides an opportunity to demonstrate the performing talent of hard-working students who may not be able to make the full commitment to other main-stage productions at South High.
One-act plays and their directors for May 2 and 3 are: “The Actors Nightmare,” directed by Nicole Marinescu; “The Tarantino Variation,” directed by Daniella Brancato; and “How to Succeed in High School Without Really Trying,” directed by Maggie Roach.
One-act plays and their directors for May 9 and 10 are: “. . .Elevator Play,” directed by Sophie Williams; “No More, Mr. Nice Guy,” directed by Stefan Lungu; and “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors,” directed by Ashley Yu.
