At their June 6 meeting, the Manhasset Board of Education honored seven middle school students from Manhasset Secondary School with the District’s Outstanding Achievement in Reading Award for achieving tremendous growth in their reading scores.

Congratulations to eighth graders Luke Feiner, Ryan Krug, Thomas Orlando, Cole Thorpe and Michael Yenicag and seventh graders Jordan Gardner and Sabrina Giordano, who were awarded certificates of recognition by the Board and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Vincent Butera. Special education teacher Sally Doulton, who works closely with these students, was also on hand to applaud them. Doulton attributes the programs System 44 and READ 180 as influential in helping these students, and many more, improve their reading and writing abilities.
