Roslyn High School’s science olympiad team competed in and placed fourth in the Nassau County West Division C Regionals hosted at Kellenberg Memorial High School on Feb. 2. This fourth place finish earns the team a qualification for the states competition. The Roslyn science olympiad team has reached state finals for the past seven out of eight years.

Trained by the captains Jeffrey Yu, Johanna Kahn, Melanie Landesberg, Kevin Lam, Mayeesa Rahman and Maleeha Rahman, Roslyn’s A Team achieved fourth place overall out of 39 schools, earning a qualification for the state competition. Roslyn’s B Team, consisting of the younger and less experienced students from the school, placed 13th out of the 39 schools as well. Students were led by advisors Irena Tsarevsky, Vincent Kreyling, and Bill Marvin.

The Roslyn team will be competing in the New York State Science Olympiad at Le Moyne College on March 15 and 16.
