Roslyn High School World Languages and Music Departments had the honor of hosting Arturo Sandoval for a Master Class on April 12. Sandoval is a ten-time Grammy-winning jazz artist who defected from Cuba, was mentored by and toured with Dizzy Gillespie, and was awarded with the Presidential Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama.
The Arturo Sandoval Master Class was an extremely valuable learning experience for all of the students. The World Languages Department teaches an entire curricular unit on this musician and his experience emigrating to the United States from Cuba. Sandoval was greeted by a packed auditorium as faculty and staff also attended this memorable event.
