South High hosting second winter concert on Dec. 13

The William A. Shine – Great Neck South High School Winter Music Concert II is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruel E. Tucker auditorium at Great Neck South High, 341 Lakeville Road. The concert is free of charge.

Winter Concert II will feature the Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Chamber String Orchestra, and Chamber Symphony Orchestra.

The Symphonic Band will perform “March-Ponderoso” by Karl L. King, “Skydance” by Robert Sheldon, and selections from the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hanson and Disney/Pixar’s Up.

The Concert Choir will sing “Stand Together,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Five Hebrew Love Songs,” “Ocho Kandelikas,” and “The Christmas Song.”

The Chamber String Orchestra will perform Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, and Serenade in E Major, op. 22 by Antonín Dvořák.

The Chamber Symphony Orchestra will play the Overture to Die Fledermaus, Op. 362 by Johann Strauss Jr., and selections from Camelot.

This concert will be under the direction of Michael Schwartz, performing arts department head and instrumental teacher, and Janine Robinson, vocal teacher, theory and piano.
