South High students honored through 2020 Student World Language competition

Two students from South High School received medals through the Long Island Language Teachers (LILT) 2020 Student World Language competition.

In the American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted song category of this year’s competition, Spencer Horowitz earned a gold medal and Samantha Bressler earned a silver medal. Kathy McAleer is the American Sign Language teacher at South High.

Long Island Language Teachers, Inc. is a comprehensive organization of language educators in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Membership includes teachers and supervisors of World Languages, English as a New Language (ENL), and American Sign Language (ASL).

LILT was established in 1980 to promote and advance second language instruction on Long Island and in New York State.
