Vincent Smith School creates flag field for Memorial Day

The Island Now

The Student Council of Vincent Smith School in Port Washington is proud to commemorate Armed Forces Day (May 19), Memorial Day (May 28) and Flag Day (June 14) by creating an American Flag Field of Honor on the front lawn of the school, facing Port Washington Boulevard.

Students will begin planting flags on Friday, May 18 and they will remain throughout June.
The entire community is invited to sponsor a flag in honor or memory of family or friends who have served our country or currently serving. Honorees can also include first responders such as police officers, firefighters, and EMTs.

Sponsorships are $10 per flag and the names of honorees and their sponsors (optional) will be listed on the Vincent Smith School website and Facebook page. Donations can be made online at vincentsmithschool.org/Giving/Online-Donations or by check to Vincent Smith School, 322 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, NY 11050.

The school is located on Port Washington Boulevard between Northern Boulevard and Main Street in Port Washington. Please help us honor these important defenders of our country and community by showing your support and gratitude for their service with a Flag of Honor!
