Congratulations to Wheatley junior, Paula Gbenebitse, who was honored at the African American Leadership Awards Ceremony held at Elmont High School on February 13th.
Paula was recognized as a leader in the African American community at the ceremony hosted by Senator Anna Kaplan in honor of Black history month. She was honored along with ten other African American students from the seventh district of New York state. Many thanks to Wheatley Spanish teacher, Mary Martinez, for recognizing Paula’s leadership qualities and for nominating her for this wonderful award.
