Earlier this month, seven of Wheatley student-musicians were recognized by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). Four students were recognized as All-State musicians, and three students were recognized as alternate All-State musicians. These students were chosen out of thousands of students who auditioned for this honor at solo and ensemble festivals throughout New York State last spring.
Congratulations to Aidan Cozzolino (French horn), Allison Keller (viola), Eric Ness (cello), Elizabeth Yuen (violin), Kaileigh Fiorillo (alternate, soprano), Layla Jarrahy (alternate, violin), and Eliana Li (alternate, violin).
The All-State students will play with the Symphonic Band or String Orchestra at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in December. Thank you to Wheatley’s music teachers, Dr. Peggy Ho, Angela Luftig and Stan Orlovsky for supporting the students.
