Wheatley seniors, sisters and tennis doubles partners, Kaya and Kavina Amin, are unstoppable. In the past month, they have won several prestigious competitions and awards.

It began with them winning 2nd Place at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls Tennis Tournament in Latham, New York earlier this month. They then both received All-County and All-State recognition as well as being named the second-best doubles team in New York State. With this feat, Kaya and Kavina both made Wheatley’s history by becoming the first doubles team to compete in the NYS Doubles Championship match.

Next, the Amin sisters continued their successful journey by winning the NYS Federation Girls Tennis Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Sportime Randall’s Island. Once again, this dynamic duo made Wheatley history as the first doubles team to win the NYS Federation Championship by defeating Sacred Heart, the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) team, in the Semifinals 6-2, 6-1 and Hackley, the Asia International Schools Athletics Association (AISAA) team, in the Finals 7-5, 6-2.

The story does not end there as both sisters also received the News 12 Scholar-Athletes Award sponsored by the Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Congratulations girls on a fantastic tennis career at The Wheatley School.
