Sandwich making and a ceremony marked the Day of Service for students and staff at Mineola High School on Sept. 11.

An annual tradition hosted by the school’s Student Service Center, the day begins with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. After school, students and staff gathered to be of service by making sandwiches for those in need at the Mary Brennan Inn and held a special ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The outdoor ceremony included students reading poetry and the watering of the school’s Survivor Tree.
