Paul D. Schreiber High School student, Margaret Harper, has been selected to the National Association for Music Education (NAFME) All-Eastern Choir.

Competing against hundreds of top-performing high school students in the United States, Harper was selected as the best of the best to perform with the ensemble at the NAFME Eastern Division Conference in Pittsburgh in April.

Margaret was first selected for NYSSMA All-State, which occurred in late November in Rochester. She then submitted her NYSSMA adjudication sheet from last year, as well as a resume and list of outstanding musical accomplishments from the past few years. Her teachers and references were then contacted to speak to her outstanding musical ability.

“We are so incredibly proud and impressed by Margaret’s talent and determination throughout this process,” said Kathleen Mooney, superintendent of Port Washington School District. “Our entire community is supporting her and cheering her on. I would be remiss if I didn’t also acknowledge the outstanding music teachers and mentors in the Port Washington School District Margaret has had the good fortune to learn from. We are all excited to see what other musical milestones Margaret achieves in the years ahead!”
