Sewanhaka Central High School District students were celebrated for their remarkable accomplishments when the Board of Education held its March 26 meeting at Sewanhaka High School.

Members of the district’s all-female Rifle Team were honored for having an excellent season and being crowned Nassau County champions. Dr. Ferrie commended the girls on their county honors and for placing third in the New York State championships.

“The district is extremely proud of the rifle team and their outstanding accomplishments,” Dr. Ferrie said.

Also honored was Sewanhaka High School senior Joel-Anthoney Bossous for being named a regional finalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars program.

“This is a very impressive young man,” Dr. Ferrie said. “I have known Joel for all six years he’s been in high school, and I was glad to be able to support his candidacy for this fine scholarship.”
