Great Neck Plaza trustees focused on Station Plaza at its meeting Wednesday night, announcing the receipt of $100,000 in state money for road fixes and discussing two businesses hoping to set up on North Station Plaza.

Great Neck Plaza Mayor Jean Celender said the village is the recipient of $100,000 in state money that will go toward repairing and remediating South Station Plaza between Middle Neck Road and Barstow Road, which doesn’t require a local match.

Celender and the trustees thanked state Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso (D-Port Washington) and his office for putting in for the state grant.

“I didn’t think it would come through as fast as it has,” Celender said.

Village trustees also granted a conditional use permit to Great Neck Station Bagel & Deli at 33 North Station Plaza, which will now be owned by Chris Lee, who worked there for six months full time.

Lee said he is taking over the business as is and “not changing anything” about it.

Officials then adjourned granting a permit for a convenience store to open up at 27 North Station Plaza to their Oct. 17 meeting.

The Board of Trustee also approved a façade upgrade for 21-23 North Station Plaza, which is home to Radio Shack and M & T Bank, according to the Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District.

In unrelated village business, Celender also signed onto an application for a $12,000 Justice Court Assistance Program grant to buy office equipment and supplies and moved to update the village’s sexual harassment policy to be in compliance with New York state law.

“The course has mandated that we have a new sexual harassment policy,” Celender said.
