Join Sisterhood and Z’havah Young Leaders and learn how to prepare challah for baking on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The event follows kosher chef and cookbook author Paula Shoyer’s recipe for challah stuffed with apples and honey and use pink dough to show our support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We will also show a short 2002 film, A Good Uplift, directed by Cheryl Furjanic, Eve Lederman and Faye Lederman.

Attendees are asked to bring one or more new or gently used bras of any size. Donations will be sorted, packaged, and delivered to women in local shelters.

Meet a volunteer from Sharsheret, an organization dedicated to educating the Jewish community about genetics and the link to breast and ovarian cancer. Learn about Sharsheret’s critical programs that may help you or someone you know.

Our facilitators for the evening will be Sharon Solomon, religious school director, and Natalie Postelnek, Sisterhood membership vice president. Fee is $26 for prepared dough and hands-on baking instruction. Advance registration is required.

Adults may share dough with children but please indicate the number of children you’re bringing for planning purposes. Send a check made out to Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom with your name and contact information, as well as the number of children you’re bringing, if any, to Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom, 401 Roslyn Rd., Roslyn Heights, NY 11577. For more information, call 516-621-2288.

Participants are invited to join Sisterhood for the 2017-2018 year at $54 for Temple Beth Sholom members and $80 for non-members. Please enclose a separate check for membership.
