Born in Youngstown, Ohio to Italian American-Catholic parents, Mike Vecchione took the scenic route to the world of professional comedy, earning a bachelors degree in criminal justice at Pennsylvania State University before counseling adjudicated teens and children with mental health issues and teaching special education in the Philadelphia School District. After receiving his masters in Special Education from Cabrini College  he moved to New York City in 2003 and began stand-up comedy.

2) Afternoon T.E.A.: Motown Acoustics

Wednesday, May 25, 2 p.m.

Kellie Nicole and Jon Price cover acoustic arrangements of R&B and the Motown era with songs of Stevie Wonder, Martha & the Vandellas, the Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations, and more. Dancing in the aisles is expected! Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Free admission to Afternoon TEA is made possible by the support of the Manhasset Community Fund, Greentree Foundation “Good Neighbor” Fund, the New York Community Bank Foundation and the Nassau County Bar Association “We Care Fund.”

3) The Zombies, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals

Sunday, May 22, 7 p.m.

The second UK group following the Beatles to score a No. 1 hit in America, The Zombies infiltrated the airwaves with the sophisticated melodies, breathy vocals, choral back-up harmonies and jazzy keyboard riffs of their 1960s hit singles like “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”. They will be appearing along with former Rascals frontman Felix Cavaliere, the man behind chart-toppers “Good Lovin’,” “Groovin’” and “People Got to Be Free.”

4) Andrew Dice Clay

Comedian Andrew Dice Clay’s rise to fame was nothing less than meteoric; becoming the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row and the only performer ever “Banned For Life from MTV.” Over the last few years, Clay’s career has experienced a resurgence, most notably when he starred in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine,” roles on “Entourage” and “Vinyl” and his new aptly titled Showtime series “Dice.”

5) City Alley, Foam & The Fulcrum

Thursday, May 26, 8 p.m.

The Space hosts three Long Island-based bands Thursday night. City Alley, from East Northport, is composed of Joe DiGiglio, Matt Cusack and Chris Insignares; Foam features Jude Renna and Jim Cyran sharing the guitar and vocal duties, Frank Mortillaro on drums and bassist Mike Dunn; and The Fulcrum is an alternative rock trio with a high-energy live show.

6) Africa to Auschwitz: Germany, Genocide and Denial

Sunday, May 22, 2 p.m.

A panel discussion about the first genocide of the 20th century and its impact on Nazism. From 1904 to 1908, Imperial Germany murdered at least 80,000 Ovaherero and approximately 10,000 Nama during Germany’s colonization of Southwest Africa, in the region known today as Namibia. This will be the first time this topic has been presented in the United States, publicly and with an international panel of experts.

7) Materpieces in the Main House

Sunday, May 22,12-5 p.m.

The Caumsett Foundation hosts this juried art exhibit and silent auction featuring local artists. The exhibit and auction will take place in the Marshall Field lll Main House at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve. The event will close with wine, hors d’oeuvres, music and a meet and greet with the artists from 3 to 5 p.m.. All proceeds will go to the preservation of the park. Tickets for the closing party are $25 per person, $35 at the door.
